Asharah is a good friend and a dancer I have admired for years. They don’t come more sincere, passionate and dedicated than her. I’ve seen her perform countless times, and yet *every* time I watch her, I get chills.
She inspires me because she dances to music that inspires her.
What motivated me to start Suhaila’s format in the first place was this vision that I could dance to any piece of music I wanted to— and really dance to it. Dance the hell out of it. Find the most random nuances in the song and bring them to life.
When Asharah performs, she does just that— she makes the music she dances to sound even better because she brings hidden, obscure elements of the music into the forefront. Its as though she has dove into the composer’s brain and pulled out the most intricate and fascinating bits of the song, and interpreted them with her body. She is a dancer’s dancer, and a musicians dancer (added bonus that she makes the audience happy as well ;).
